Ofsted review of special educational needs and disability
A major review of special educational needs and disability arrangements published by Ofsted, the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills, reveals a range of concerns about the current system and how well it is serving children and young people. For example the report suggests that “In some of the best examples, the non-statutory Common Assessment Framework was being used effectively to coordinate the work of a number of different organisations around the needs of a single child” and “Some schools and other organisations were working together and focusing on the outcomes for the young person rather than simply on what services were being provided or on their own internal priorities”.
The report will be of interest to parents and groups and organisations providing services and support to disabled children.
